Metros 5, San Jose 5
Jonny Walker's worst game gives the MetroStars a 5-5 tie after an insane game. Cornell Glen made his first start recording 2 goals, and 1 assist in a match where the defense just got lost. After great offense by the Metros, and weak defense, the Metros could only seem to find a tie.

The game started early, as the Metros hit the board first. Glen made a great run at the San Jose defense, and then ripped off a long rang shot. The shot hit low corner, and caught Pat Onstand by surprise. The Metros had an early 1-0 lead.

Just 7 minutes later San Jose had an answer. A fast counter by Landon Donovan left Brian Ching unmarked. A heel flick by Donovan left Ching on a run right through the box, he ripped a shot and found low far corner. Walker had no chance.

In the 23rd minute Chris Brown had the ball after a fast San Jose counter attack. He ripped a shot from outside the box, the ball took a skip and a bounce. It gave Walker no chance to save, as the ball bounced over his hand and into the net.

Just a minute later Joselito Vaca took a long crack from outside the box. The ball flew into the far corner, this may have been the best goal of the night as the Metros tie it 2-2.

After a failed attack by San Jose, Donovan works some quick magic, as a poor give away leaves him at the top of the box marked. Donovan does some volleys and then cracks it with his left foot, Walker didn't get a good read on the shot. Quakes lead 3-2.

Just seconds before halftime, Fabian Taylor took a long range shot much like Vaca's. The ball dipped down into the far corner, and Onstand got caught off guard, having to watch it go in. This goal was huge as the Metros tied it right before the half.

Into the second half Ricardo Clark brings down Donovan, penalty kick was called, but then taken back, as the linesman informed that it was out of the box. The MetroStars caught a break, but minutes later, Richard Mulrooney takes a dive in the box. Penalty kick is the call, Clark was called for the foul. Ronnie Ekelund was the man to take it, drilled it low right corner, and Quakes lead 4-3.

The Metros couldn't work the come back magic, as the Quakes hit the board again, after a free kick taken by Jeff Agoos finds the head of Craig Waibel and scores.

Down by 2 goals, the Metros still have life after Cornell Glen is brought down at the edge of the box. Penalty kick is the call. Amado Guevara steps up, and scores it. It's a one goal game.

As time ticks on, life begins to die, as the Metros have limited time to tie. Lisi, Wolyniec and Galvan Rey all made there way into the game. In the 89th minute the Metros find a way to tie. A great ball sent into the box by Eddie Gaven finds Glen, who does a back heel flick to fake out Pat Onstand, it finds net, and the game is all even, thats how it would end in an amazing 5-5 tie on goal short of the record, where LA beat Colorado 7-4.
