Revs extend streak, beat Kansas City 2-0
Kansas City, MO. – The New England Revolution picked up a win on the road to extend their unbeaten streak to 11 games. The Revs, sitting comfortably in first place, got the win thanks in part to some fine saves from Man of the Match Matt Reis. The win puts the Revs record at 7-0-4.

The Revs got off to a fast start in the 8th minute when a quickly taken free kick caught Kansas City off-guard. Jose Cancela quickly sent the free kick to Shalrie Joseph, who sent a cross into the box. As Kansas City midfielder Sasha Victorine rushed back to clear it out, the ball took a deflection off of him and went into his own net, giving the Revs a 1-0 lead.

Pat Noonan unleashed Khano Smith in the 37th minute with a nice through ball, but Kansas City ‘keeper Bo Oshiniyi ran out and blocked his shot.

Matt Reis kept the Revs in the lead with a spectacular save in the 42nd minute. Josh Wolff got on the end of a Chris Klein cross, just five yards out from goal, but Reis somehow managed to get his arm out and deflect the header out.

The Revs doubled the lead in the 49th minute. After receiving a nice pass from Steve Ralston, Shalrie Joseph sent a pass to an on-rushing Pat Noonan. Noonan found himself free of the defense and hammered home a shot past Oshiniyi.

Kansas City had a great chance in the 56th minute, when Davy Arnaud received the ball from a Kerry Zavagnin header. Arnaud hammered a shot towards the right side of the goal that left Reis rooted to his line. The shot hit the post and came back into play before being cleared.

Matt Reis was called upon to make several more saves before the end of the match, but the Revs were able to hold on for a 2-0 victory and their seventh win of the season.
