Liverpool and Arsenal after American defender?
According to the British paper, “The Sunday People”, both Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in D.C. United defender Bobby Boswell. For much of the 2005 MLS season, Boswell filled the gap left by Ryan Nelsen when he left for Blackburn Rovers in England. Boswell went undrafted in the 2005 SuperDraft, but was given a chance by D.C. and earned a contract. He started 26 games for D.C. United and tallied 3 goals and 1 assist. Possibly his most impressive performance came in a friendly against English Premier League club Chelsea FC, in which he scored DC’s loan goal in a 2-1 loss. His season was not all highlights however as Boswell also tallied three own goals and lost his starting spot when Argentine defender Facundo Erpen arrived. and also link Boswell to Blackburn, Fulham and Blackpool (or was that intended to be Blackburn?). Boswell would likely have trouble acquiring a work permit as he is yet to be capped for the US.
